Darwin is an easy to use interpreted computer language especially tailored to research in the biosciences. Its purpose is to serve as a biochemists' workbench
where researchers can explore molecular sequence data quickly and easily. The Darwin project began in 1991 and reflects much of the research done in the
CBRG (Computational Biochemistry Research Group) at the ETH-Zurich. Darwin itself shares much in common with the language MAPLE (installed on ziaix) which is designed for symbolic computation.
To start the Darwin environment on zisgi you just have to type:
   nobody@zisgi % darwin
on the command line.
Sample files are in: /usr/local/src/biocomputing/irix.darwin .
The databases are in: /data/darwin .
At the moment following databases are available on zisgi:
Warning: include() [function.include]: Unable to access /data/darwin/databases.html in /usr/local/ftp/wwwbio/public_html/docu/darwin/index.php on line 30
Warning: include(/data/darwin/databases.html) [function.include]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /usr/local/ftp/wwwbio/public_html/docu/darwin/index.php on line 30
Warning: include() [function.include]: Failed opening '/data/darwin/databases.html' for inclusion (include_path='/usr/local/info-sys/www:/usr/local/info-sys/safe_mode_allowed:/usr/local/ftp:/usr/local/guest:/usr/local/scratch:.') in /usr/local/ftp/wwwbio/public_html/docu/darwin/index.php on line 30
Feel free to ask Christian Bolliger for the implementation of further databases.
